How long does it take for Pink Eye symptoms to occur?I live with someone who currently has pink eye and I don't know whether or not I have been infected with it on not, when will I know and what are some of the symptoms?

It can be hard to tell whether the Pinkeye infection is caused by a virus or bacteria. In general, the discharge associated with viral conjunctivitis is watery, whereas it will be thicker and more pus-like when the infection is caused by bacteria.

Incubation Period
Bacterial: 24-72 hours
Viral: Usually 12 hours – 3 days

Period of Communicability
During the course of active infection, and up to 14 days after onset, depending upon the cause of infection.

Good luck! Don't share towels at this time...
