How Do I Take Care Of My Wife If She Is Diabetic And Pregnant?Me and my wife are planning to start a family, and i want to take care of her as much as possible to ensure a normal birth for my son/daughter and also to ensure that she wont be in danger of losing her vision or having a serious problem. So what can we do before she gets pregnant to ensure the best. And how can i take care of her while she is pregnant? My Wife has type 2 diabetes. and does not require insulin or any type of pill. Thanks for the answers in advance :)

Keeping her glucose level as close to normal as possible, daily walk of at least an hour is good for everyone, especially ladies who want healthy babies and an easy delivery.

She may well require insulin later in the pregnancy to help keep her glucose down to near normal for the health of the baby. But that is for later and her and the doctor to discuss.

Find an Ob/Gyn/Endo to guide the pregnancy. These very very specialized doctors are hard to find and harder to get to see, but well worth the effort.

It isn't her health so much is it is the baby's health she must watch so closely.

Being educated is the most important thing. In my area, we nave pharmacies that give diabetes classes to help people learn and adjust their lives for the healthiest outcome. Perhaps you can find one in your town.
