Are Plano/non-prescriptive eyeglasses and colored contacts generally covered by vision or eye care insurance?I am interested in purchasing a pair of Plano eyeglasses, and colored contact lenses because I have 20/20 vision and just want to wear them for cosmetic reasons. And I was wondering does vision care cover a portion, all, or none of the cost of Plano eyeglasses and colored contact lenses. I would appreciate any advice for colored contacts- companies, solution, accessories, etc. As well as sites that sell eyeglasses.

Insurance companies usually do not cover anything that is for cosmetics only. Colored lenses are all different. they are not all good for everyone. You need to be fit by a doctor and they would tell you what brand is best for your specific size and shape of eye, your eye color and what is healthiest for how much you want to wear them. I would NEVER recommend buying ANY optical goods online. So, I have o recommendations. call your doctor, get an exam, and see if there is any little Rx at all so that your insurance will pay some!

Won't be covered as they're not needed. Insurance only covered things when it's medically necessary. As there is no medical reason for you to have glasses, they won't pay for it.

1. I doubt they would cover it because you don't actually need them-I have terrible vision and i am only partially covered.
2. Don't waste your money-that is a stupid idea to get fake glasses-colored contacts i can understand-but glasses are a waste of money if you don't actually need them.

I doubt it as you're only using them for cosmetic and not medical reasons
