Contacts vs. Glasses prescription?I am nearsighted with astigmatism and I got a new eyeglasses prescription at the beginning of January and I can see great with them. Then I decided to get contacts for the first time in March and when they gave me my trial pair I had a lot of trouble with my nearsighted vision in both eyes and everything looked blurry in my left eye in general. When I went for my follow up the doctor told me that I just hadn't gotten used to them and he didn't really seem to care that I couldn't see very well so before I try dealing with him again I figured I'd try this out.
My prescription for my glasses is (the one I can see with):
Right: Sphere (-2.00), Cyl (-1.25), Axis 3
Left: Sphere (-2.50), Cyl (-1.75), Axis 8
My contact prescription is:
Right: Sphere (-2.25), Cyl (-1.25), Axis 180
Left: Sphere (-3.00), Cyl (-1.75), Axis 10
I don't know if anyone can tell by comparing the prescriptions alone if there is a problem with the contacts or not but I don't know much about reading them or anything so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I did not go to the same doctor for both because I lost my vision insurance. I put them in again to see if had gotten any better and I'm still having the same problems. I can see quite clearly far away (20 ft up to a few hundred ft away) but my vision is blurry up close (my computer screen a couple feet away is kind of fuzzy). I thought it was strange that my contact prescription was stronger because I heard it is generally a little bit weaker and my vision is still great with my glasses. Could the prescription just be off?

interesting that your contact Rx is a little stronger. that could be the problem...although if you're young I kind of doubt thats it.
what it PROBABLY is (IMO) is...
no toric soft lens Rx is ever has clear as the corresponding glasses Rx. it cannot pretty much be done.

Your contact lens prescription (especially in your left eye) shows a minus power increase that I would not expect to see in a matter of three months.
Did you go to the same doctor for your contacts as you did for your glasses?
Typically, -0.50 more minus (-2.50 in glasses to -3.00 in contacts) would not make your vision blurry...but it could. The axis difference (axis 8 to axis 10) could also be adding a little bit of a change.
When someone with astigmatism first switches to "toric" contact lenses, it is possible that their eye sight will not be as good as it was with glasses. It does take some getting used to. The contact lens may do some slight rotation on the eye and the axis may not line up as perfectly as you are used to with astigmatism.
