What universities are a safety/fit/reach for me?I'm a Canadian sophomore and I'm interested in attending college in the States. As of right now I'm in pre-IB and will be completing the full IB diploma in the next 2 years. In grade 9 and this year, I took/am taking U-level courses. I plan on taking a history/philosophy/english pathway
-96% average...I think that's 3.9 GPA?..
-Principal's List multiple times.
-Honour Roll
-youngest member of the Junior8 team
- last year I played school jr. volleyball and basketball
this year I played Varsity basketball and going to play badminton
- I've also played in a Ontario Basketball Rep team since gr. 6
-I was also chosen as a representative of my region for an Ontario Elite program
-I coach little kids for houseleague basketball
-I'm at grade 7 with RCM piano
-I'm about to start the debate team at school
-I won a district wide essay contest
-I volunteer at the local library.
-I'm in the school band and we're competing in the Boston International Music Festival next year.
-I'm involved in a Jamaican Self-Help outreach organization
-I have a part-time job working as a cashier at a gas station
-World Vision retreat participant
Sorry that's a lot of info there but that's pretty much it...
I would like to know if schools like UC Berkeley (although I know they don't accept many international students) are a reach for me, and what my safeties and fits are.
Thanks for your time!
I think my class ranking is around 2nd/325
I really don't care what region. I like the idea of a big school but one that doesn't have a campus that's integrated into the city.
My main concern with getting into these schools is that I have virtually no awards and I don't hold any leadership roles within these extra curricular groups.
I just took a PSAT practice test and I got Math: 57, Reading: 72, Writing: 78

Why the US- you do understand there are so many great schools in Canada (such as Toronto, Mcgill, and UBC) that US students would love to go to, its going to cost you a great deal to come here and your govmt isnt going to help as much with financial assistance?
In any case- UC might look at you, but its going to depend on how well you do with admissions testing (act/sat). Thats going to be the factor here- a mediocre score would rule you out- a high score keeps you in the running. You may consider schools like Michigan, Georgetown, Boston College, places like that- but we cant help without those scores.
