Would you take advice from someone you didn't personally like?If you were to go to a trainer, groomer or another dog related professional and you didn't like them personally... maybe they have some methods or ethics you didn't agree with or you clashed with them.
Would you still take onboard any advice they had to give regardless of how unpalatable it may seem?
Would your view of them as a person cloud your vision when listening to them talk about issues you may be having with your dog?
How important is the 'delivery' of the advice?
Is having a good relationship with the professionals you deal with something you hold in high regard or could you not care less?

I think it all depends on if it's personal dislike or professional dislike. If I didn't agree with Joe shmoe on his politics or how he liked his women to dress but he worked a dog really well and trained with methods I liked than yes, even if I couldn't personally stand the guy I would still take his advice on training.

Add>> And on the other side of that coin, if I liked the fellow as a person, thought he was sweet as apple pie but didn't care for his backwoods old mentality training of a dog I wouldn't give him the time of day to find out if he might have one use-full tidbit scrambled up with all the other crap.

like or dislike does not change good advice...OR bad advice.

Look at the person's experience and knowledge, then use that to weigh the advice.

To be honest, probably not from them. Now if I heard it from a trainer I liked, who reiterated what the first one said, then yes, I would.

Honestly..yes, my view of them would cloud my vision.
The delivery is very important. If you say it nicely, it's going to sink in. If it's with attitude when I truly don't know something, then I probably won't listen.

I would think so.

it depends on if the thing that they are giving you advice for is the thing that you clash with them about. If it's something you have no idea about, and the other person seems to have some good ideas, than yeah, I would.

I think most professionals, though, will go out of their way to make you like them... their job kind of depends on people trusting them.

If I didn't like them because of methods or ethics I really doubt that I would be around them to listen to their advice. I have to have a good relationship with people I deal with for my dogs, I wouldn't go to a vet that doesn't respect me as a responsible dog owner, or that cannot relate to me.
I certainly would not go to anyone that did not share the same philosophy as far as my dogs or basically anyone that I deal with.

I went to a new vet and I was getting my dog weighed. The vet came out of the room and saw my Rottweiler and ran back in with a scared look on his face and slammed to door. Needless to say I slammed the door pretty hard when I left.
