What are the limitations of Medi-cal Vision care?Well, I am about to turn 20 and I am not insured in anyway. My family has insurance, but not really enough. We just got a house and stuff is a little tight. So I've decided I need to get Medi-cal this last year to take care of my Wisdom teeth and glasses. Now what are the limitations with getting the glasses from, I guess, Kaiser Permanente? Do I get to pick the frames I would like, or is it limited to like 1-3 frames with the bare essentials for lenses?

You are lucky you are not yet 21. That is the cut off for getting dental work done under Denta-Cal. Under Medi-Cal you can get a pair of glasses up to $ 150 every two years, whether at Kaiser or private optician. If your family can afford insurance you wont be able to get Medi-Cal unless you are out on your own. When you apply they ask what the household income is and if it is too high, you wont get it. You have to be under 21 to get Medi-Cal or be in one of the other groups who qualify.
