The first thing you need to do is to believe in yourself and thats all that matters

It's true that you have to believe in yourself, but there are steps you can take to improve your chances at a job.

First, you need to pick an aspect that will be your long-term goal, whether it's fashion design, photography, planning, or make-up. It's okay to be interested in all of them, but you have to choose one to "specialize" in at least until you have buffed up your resume.

If you choose photography, get out there and take pictures. Take lots of pictures, choose your best, and try to get them published. Submit them to magazines. Use the pictures themselves as a sort of resume. In fact, create a website and post only your best pictures. Add the URL for the website to your resume, and maybe the model agency will like your work and reconsider you.

If fashion design is your thing, you need to make a really serious sketchbook. Prepare a sketchbook that you are willing to show other people. Then start making clothes. You actually have to be able to sew your clothes and make them look good. Wear your clothes around so that people can see your work. Again, post pictures of these clothes and these sketches to a website and include the website on your resume. If you are feeling really ambitious, try organizing a charity fashion show. If you can get sponsors, the fashion show won't have to cost you a lot of money, and you can get your clothes out on the runway. This will also look great on a resume.

If you want to go into planning fashion shows, try the above charity fashion show idea, and show people what you can do. To get hired at this place with no formal education in fashion and with no job experience, you are going to have to make your own experience. Best of luck!

My friend's son took a retail job in men's wear in a regional department
store. He had flair and helped customers look smart. He was
promoted to buyer. He went to NYC several years on buying trips
and made friends there in the process of buying for his stores.
Finally, he left the department store, went to NYC and went into
business with the people he met while buying. You could say
he was young and brash. You could say it was his destiny.
When the ball came to him he ran with it.
Winnie told me this about her son Perry. I never met him. He
died young and rich.

You need to believe in yourself - or no one else will.
