Occasional Eye Flashes now a Streak of Light, Retinal Problem?I have had vitreous floaters for as long as I can remember and every now and again I experience some flashes when blinking but these normally go away after a day or two. For this I have had my eyes tested thoroughly, only a few months back and everything appeared to be fine. Optic nerve and Retina healthy.

However recently in the past week I have been experiencing a diagonal flash of light in my left eye, it only seems to appear if I move my eye from left to right. If I move my field of vision from one end of the room to the other I will see a sharp fast streak of light and then its gone.

What worries me is that its not similar to the normal flashes I have experienced in the past, and its been happening on and off for more than a day now, should I give it time and see if it passes like the flashes I have had in my eyes before, or should I be worried about more serious issues like Retinal Detachment?
I have actually had my eyes tested several times this year, once when I was getting my prescription updated (Right eye: -1.75, Left eye: -0.75).

Another time because of dry eye and allergies.

And once to get pictures taken of the inside of my eyes - this was the time the Optician used Tropicamide and I was assured that everything was normal.

This could be a retinal tear or detachment, which is considered a medical emergency. You need to go to the eye doctor immediately to see if that is the case! I hope this helps.
